History & Main DetailsIn 1996 whilst having a drink in the local pub Richard Warrington, a trombone player and Tim Beaver, a saxophonist, came up with the idea to get a few friends together to form some sort of band. It wasnt long after, on a Wednesday evening a motley crew of musicians met for the first time to form "The Little Big Band". Tim managed to obtain some musical scores and the evening was spent learning a waltz called True Love. Over the next few weeks the band rehearsed this and other dance hall pieces. Over the next year or so the band performed at local events in Leicestershire and the members changed, we lost a few through other commitments and gained others. We all agreed that the need to perform to a greater audience was what we
all craved and so the format changed and guitars and vocals were added. Our repertoire included the Locomotion and
Y.M.C.A. and becoming more of a pop band with a unique feature of a wind section. Performing locally we soon discovered another band with the same name, which is why we came to the decision to change the name to Covernote. We soon became quite popular but as we increased our capabilities we were still struggling with the quality of sound that we were delivering. We were then approached by Dave Wood, a sound and lighting engineer with over 20 years experience who explained that we needed someone to listen and control our sound. Listening to Dave's advice we have now invested in a complete new set up consisting of a 24 channel mixer, 2KW sound rig and a 12KW lighting rig, along with this we also have all the necessary equipment to provide a 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's disco between the live music sets and thus cater for your complete function, whether it be wedding, birthday or corporate event.
The band consists of drums, rhythm, lead & bass guitars, male & female vocals, 2 saxophones, trumpet and a trombone and together with the sound & lighting engineer to ensure quality music and entertainment at all times we are sure you won't be disappointed. Whilst we aim to offer a quality band with quality sound and lighting we are still proud of our ever increasing improvements, not only to music but also to the visual effect. One of our most recent enhancements is the introduction of the dressing up box. This box contains all sorts of wigs, hats and props for a performance that makes us slightly different to other bands. Not only that, we also enjoy making people happy with our performances.
